If you are new to our programs, here is some information for you:
- The children are in groups by age, usually around 5 per group.
- At most locations, there is also a group for the adults.
- There is a trained facilitator leading each group.
- The children are encouraged to share their feelings about what is
happening inside of them. It is as they are free to share anything they
want, and as the others in the group listen and understand, that they
feel relief from the painful emotions that are affecting them.
- The group leaders, or facilitators, have been trained to lead the
group, and have manuals and various materials to guide the discussion
each week. Topics may include; Feelings, My value as a person, Anger,
Fear, and many others.
- The groups meet for 12 weeks, one hour each week.
For each of the different programs; RAINBOWS, JUST ME AND THE KIDS,
and DIVORCE CARE, there are additional materials to help keep the conversation
going. These may be stories, games, puppets, or other materials.
- Confidentiality is key to sharing in the groups.Every person needs
to know that what is said, stays in the group. The children are free
to share with their parents or others what they said in the group, but
not what other members of the group say.
- The program is free for children. For the adult groups, there may
be a small fee to cover the cost of the books.
- Most groups begin the 12-week program at the beginning of September
and again in January. No groups run through the summer as people are
away so often.
- After the second week of the program is completed, most groups will
not enroll any more people in the group. Your name will go on the waiting
list for the next program start.
- To enroll in the program, you can use the
enrollment form on this website,
or phone Dennis or Irene at 403 289-8555
